Judge rejects arguments against South Burlington methadone clinic

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Legal arguments aimed at shutting down the new methadone clinic in South Burlington have been rejected.

The HowardCenter opened the site on Dorset Street to help what they say is a growing number of opiate addicts in need of treatment. But opponents say the clinic is too close to city schools.

The school district filed a lawsuit arguing the facility does not meet several of the city's permitting requirements for the site. But Environmental Court Judge Thomas Walsh ruled in the clinic's favor on all of the issues.
