BRANDON, Vt. (AP) - The Gold Star Feed and Grain mill in Brandon, Vt., has closed, but its feed will be manufactured by another supplier.
The Rutland Herald reports the mill was operated as a joint venture by the parent company of Blue Seal Feeds and J.D. Heiskell & Company. It closed last week and had six employees.
Andrew Dugan, Gold Star general manager, said several factors went into the decision to close, but declined to offer specifics.
Gold Star sells mixed dairy feeds, feed commodities, mineral packages, and other nutrition supplements to dairy operators in the Northeast.
Dugan said the mill had operated under the Gold Star name for a year. Last October, Heiskell and Kent Nutrition Group, the parent of Blue Seal Feeds, formed Gold Star Feed and Grain LLC.
