GOP leaders call for further delay of Vt. Health Connect

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. -

Vermont Republicans want a further delay in the implementation of Vermont's health care exchange.

Two weeks ago, Governor Shumlin announced a three-month delay in the mandate for tens of thousands of Vermonters to purchase insurance on the exchange. Ongoing problems with the Vermont Health Connect website forced the governor's hand.

But Republican leaders in the Legislature now want to push back implementation to the end of 2014. GOP House and Senate leaders say, "Too many Vermonters... are needlessly anxious about whether they will be able to retain any insurance at all while the system is fixed. The system should be fully operational before mandates are applied."
