BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a Pownal woman has been charged with tampering with her child's medication.
Police say Kristy Prouty is accused of removing a drug to treat attention deficit disorder from capsules and replacing it with sugar and an antidepressant. Police say the 6-year-old child consumed one of the altered pills but was not harmed.
Prouty pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, cruelty to a child under 10, cultivation/manufacture of a controlled and regulated drug, and providing false information to police.
Police say they discovered the altered drugs after Prouty reported them to local police.
She was being held on $10,000 bail.
