Scheuermann VT Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

Friday, November 15th

The second class of inductees into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame will be honored Sunday evening at a dinner and celebration at the DoubleTree Hotel in Burlington.

Twelve outstanding athletes coaches and contributors make up the Class of 2013. They include Olympic skiers Barbara Ann Cochran and Billy Kidd, St. Albans football great Ollie Dunlap and legendary high school coach Jean Robinson.

Another member of this year's class is Stowe field hockey great Gretchen Scheuermann. After a standout high school career with the Raiders that included a state title, Scheuermann went on to play at Northwestern.

While there, she became a two-time All-American, led the Wildcats to three NCAA Tournament appearances and one Final Four, and in 1994, won the Broderick Cup Award, the field hockey version of the Heisman Trophy, as the national player of the year.

Despite that impressive resume, Scheuermann was still surprised when she got the call that she was part of the Hall of Fame's second class.
