The dates have been set for an election to fill Ray Burton's Executive Council seat in New Hampshire.
Burton passed away last week from cancer. He was New Hampshire's longest-serving member of the Executive Council. Burton represented voters in Grafton County and helped direct millions of dollars to the North Country.
"He was just an unwavering and dedicated public servant. And so, as we mourn his loss, we also know that Ray Burton would be the first person to insist that his seat be filled and so we have announced a special election," said Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-New Hampshire.
A primary for the executive council seat will be held in January, and then the general election will take place on Town Meeting Day in March.
