Dartmouth College's new president says he wants to see an end to sexual assaults on campus.

Philip Hanlon told the arts and science faculty at a safety meeting he thinks there needs to be more emphasis on social activities beyond Greek life at the college.

Hanlon says he thinks that would help prevent binge drinking and rape.

The Valley News reports the president also said if a student was charged with rape he or she would face expulsion, however it would not be immediate.

Dartmouth College reported 11 rapes on campus in 2012.
