UVM Hockey fans have a new reason to cheer for the Boston Bruins. Former Catamount defenseman Kevan Miller will make his NHL debut Thursday in Boston against St. Louis. Miller got the call up Wednesday after news that both Boston defenseman Adam McQuaid and Dennis Seidenberg were out of the line-up with injuries. Miller was in his second season with the Bruins AHL team in Providence.
We were down in Rhode Island on Sunday watching Miller and the Baby B's take on Portland. At that time, Miller didn't know he was going to be needed with the Big club, but it's something that he was expecting.
Meanwhile, A couple of former Dartmouth hockey stars are also waiting for the call-up to Boston. Nick Johnson and Matt Lindblad are in their first full seasons with the P-Bruins. Just like Miller, Johnson and Lindblad each had their shots to make the big club this fall during the preseason. Johnson had a few goals while Lindblad also impressed. The two weren't Big Green teammates in Hanover, but they've gotten along well wearing the black and gold in Providence.
