PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

Twenty-four puppies were abandoned in the Clinton County woods this past August. Now, Michael Staley has pleaded guilty to five counts of animal abandonment in relation to this case.

The thirty six year old's wife owned a Plattsburgh pet shop that housed those pups.

Thursday, Staley admitted to staging a burglary at the pet shop. He took the puppies and then left them.

Nineteen puppies were found and have now been adopted.

His wife, Tammy Staley, pleaded guilty to five counts of animal cruelty in November. Her husband could get up to two years in jail.
