Sweetwaters is using Thanksgiving to help the less fortunate bundle up for winter. For more than two decades the restaurant has outfitted Vermonters with winter gear.
Sweetwaters' annual coat drive provides winter jackets and socks to those who cannot afford them. The restaurant partners with the Windjammer to collect and size the donated coats. Organizers say homelessness remains a persist problem in the greater Queen City area.
"This is probably a lighter year. It seems about the same, and the unfortunate part is we recognize many people from each year," Terri Melincoff with Sweetwaters said.
The restaurant says it pairs about 600 coats with those in need every year.
