Vermont's lieutenant governor is the latest to call for a further delay in implementing the state's new health care exchange.
Vermont Health Connect has been riddled with problems since it launched in October. Already, the deadlines have been pushed back. And though the system is now partially operational for individual customers, it still is not working for small businesses. Hundreds of companies that signed up for coverage learned this week they'll need to go back to their old insurance until the exchange problems are fixed.
Lt. Gov. Phil Scott, R-Vermont, himself a small-business owner, has expressed frustration with the system. In a statement he said: "I agree with those who feel the mandate on small businesses should be postponed, if not lifted altogether ..."
Scott goes on to say that businesses " ... face enough uncertainty on a day-to-day basis, in addition to having to go through this process with multiple false starts."
