What's Cooking: Sticky Buns

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Chef Lisa Best from the North Hero House joins us this morning to make a delicious sticky bun recipe.

Sticky Buns:

2T*. yeast

2c**.warm water

1/4c. sugar

2T. vegetable oil

2t***.salt

4-6c. flour

* Tablespoon. ** cup ***teaspoon

Activate the yeast in water add sugar oil and salt. Mix well. Add flour slowly until a soft but not sticky dough is made. Knead 5-10 mins. Put in an oiled bowl, cover, place in a warm place to allow to double in size, 1-11/2 hours.

1c maple syrup

1/2c. corn syrup

1/2c honey

11/2 sticks butter melted

11/2c brown sugar

Mix melted butter, brown sugar together. Then add wet ingredients Mix well.

8c. walnuts

1c. soft butter

3-4c granulated sugar

2-4T cinnamon

Grease 2- 9" round baking pans. 4c. walnuts in each pan and 1/2 the sticky sauce in each pan. Set aside.

When dough has proofed punch down and knead for a few minutes. Roll to 1/2" thick, 8" wide and 30" long. Spread with butter, sugar and cinnamon. Roll up and cut 2" pieces and place 7 in each pan. Place in a warm spot till they are about doubled in size. Put on a baking pan and bake in a preheated 350' oven for 45-60 min. Remove from oven and cool wrap and freeze for future use or cool 10 mins and carefully flip pan onto serving platter. If frozen take out of freezer the night before put in 350' oven till warm and gooey and carefully flip onto serving platter.
