City Council to revisit Moran Plant plans

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The future of the Moran Plant will be up for discussion before the Burlington City Council on Monday.

The city has been trying for years to come up with a new use for the derelict power plant. The latest plan on the table is to redevelop the building to host a mix of public and private uses. Among the ideas are a large indoor performance space, art studios, a restaurant, a brewery and a community garden.

City officials say the project will be paid for by federal grants and the tenants who will use the building. If the city council approves the proposal it will go before voters next March.
