Uprooted congregation moves on

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A Burlington congregation made a short pilgrimage to it's new home Sunday.

The Christ Presbyterian Church has leased property from the University of Vermont for the last 35 years. But UVM has decided not to renew its lease.  On Sunday congregation members marched through downtown to their new home of worship. The Cathedral Church of Saint Paul has opened it's doors to allow the group to use the lower level of their building.

"This is part of making it real for ourselves, this kind of pilgrimage. It makes it concrete. Today there are a number of people who have probably never been in this space before so this gives them a chance to get used to it a little bit," said Christ Church Pastor Mike Brown.

The church will hold its first service in the new space on January 5th.
