BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A Shelburne horse owner is competent to face animal abuse charges.

Investigators found several horses in terrible conditions -- along with horse carcasses -- on George Wilson's property earlier this year.  A judge ruled Monday that Wilson is mentally competent for trial.

Wilson plans to argue for the case to be dismissed. He once worked for Channel 3 News but left seven years ago.
