BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The board of trustees at the Vermont Veterans' Home is considering a proposal to allow installation of 87 solar panels on its land northwest of the complex.
The home in Bennington could get up to a 10 percent reduction in its annual electric bill.
The Bennington Banner reports Cornerstone Renewables of Williston has asked for permission to use the property to install the panels.
Organizers said the earliest the project could be installed is the end of 2014.
This proposal is part of a state program to look for ways that state buildings can hook up to renewable energy sources.
