A big construction project at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is moving forward.
The multi-story building is going up directly to the right of the medical center's main entrance. It's being built in collaboration with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College. A good portion of the expansion project will be used for research, including areas like health care delivery, clinical practice and computational medical sciences.
"This building is titled the translational research building and the intent is to get bench research to the bedside as quickly as possible. So they are really focusing attention on the cure for cancer for example -- to really get that into practice for patient care as quickly as possible," said DHMC's Gail Dahlstrom.
The $116.5 million dollar facility is scheduled to open in 2015.
