Channel 3 Cheer: Christmas Custard Cups

Posted: Updated:

Channel 3 Cheer is when our co-workers share their favorite family recipe or holiday tradition.

Darren Perron and his nephew Alex-- who both love sweet treats-- show us how to make Christmas Custard Cups with maple syrup.

Christmas Custard Cups

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup Vermont maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Handful of brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Whisk eggs in a bowl until fluffy. Add all ingredients and whisk again.
  3. Pour into 6 cup-sized ramekins about 3/4 full. Arrange them in a baking pan with hot water. Water should cover ramekins about halfway up the sides.
  4. Bake for about 55 minutes or until a knife comes out clean when you stick it in the middle.
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar on top of each cup.
  6. Broil on high for 3-5 minutes until lightly browned and caramelized.
  7. Chill for about an hour and serve!
