BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - A St. Johnsbury man has been sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison for kidnapping two people last year and shooting one of them multiple times.

Omar Rodriguez, 37, was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty in July.

An FBI indictment says Rodriguez confronted Tina Evans of North Concord and Steven Rodimon of Woodsville, N.H., who had been dating his estranged wife, as they left work at the Ocean State Job Lot in St. Johnsbury. The Burlington Free Press reports that Rodimon struggled with Rodriguez, who fired his gun at him.

Rodriguez then shot Rodimon in the stomach and forced the two into his car, ordering Evans to drive. The car was eventually stopped by police spike strips four hours later. Rodimon was flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
