MONTPELIER, Vt. -

Vermont's attorney general is asking the United States Congress to fund the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA).

Bill Sorrell is joining attorneys general in 46 states and territories as they write a letter to Congress to fund TVPRA. The measure was passed 13 years ago to protect human trafficking victims and help prosecute their traffickers.

Sorrell says this is essential to help survivors rebuild their lives and prosecute those who profit from this criminal enterprise. These trafficking victims include sex slaves, domestic servants, sweatshop and migrant farm workers.
