High water on the Passumpsic River is threatening residents in Lyndonville.
Vermont Emergency management officials say The Lyndonville Fire Station is being offered as a standby evacuation shelter for residents of the Northeast Mobile Home Park on Route 114. The residents were encouraged to find other housing temporarily.
The intersection between Route 5, 114 and 122 in Lyndonville was closed down due to high water from the Passumpsic River.
The river is also threatening the 140-year-old Sanborn covered bridge in Lyndonville. The bridge is not being used, but efforts were underway this summer to stabilize the sagging structure. Officials say a steel pedestrian bridge downstream has been closed due to the potential for the bridge upstream to collapse.
