BERLIN, Vt. (AP) - Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin will kick off a project that gives warm socks made in the state to children in need.
Shumlin will be at the Berlin headquarters of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont Monday afternoon to launch the 6th annual "Blue Socks for Kids" project.
The wool socks made by Cabot Hosiery Mills of Northfield will be distributed by community action agencies and homeless shelters.
More than 150,000 pairs of socks have been distributed in the past through the project.
