A photo posted to the WCAX Facebook
page of a bald eagle during the height of Ice Storm 2013 went viral.
Photographer Bob Davis got the story
behind the image taken by Beverly and Walt Keating in Milton.
Beverly Keating: Oh yes,
beautiful, this is exactly the place.
Walt Keating: Yeah, right
here. He was right on the tree. Normally we see him over a lot and fishing, but
we've never seen him perched before.
Beverly: We saw him from
the kitchen, he was right exactly right ahead. Right there. He was so
beautiful. Yeah, never quite like that where we could just grab the camera and
just get pictures of him. That was pretty cool. It was exciting.
Walt: It's about the last
place to freeze, so it's like the last place he's got to fish. One of our
neighbors says he's seen up to three of them at one time, we've never seen more
than one at a time. Later that day we went out for a walk and I was putting my
shoes on and I looked out the window and I saw him fly back north again.
Walt: Not a fancy camera,
but it takes good shots. An 8-year-old Sony, that's all.
Beverly: When I first saw the eagle I was in
the kitchen and I came out and kept clicking. I wasn't sure what kind of
pictures I was getting. Wouldn't it be something if it came by right now...
(laughs) Sure is pretty today.
