MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say they're grateful for the donations of food and cash that enabled troopers to deliver 1,500 pounds of food to the Vermont Foodbank before Christmas.
Earlier this week, the police delivered the food to distribution centers in Barre and Brattleboro.
The food donated by the police was collected in just under a week.
The police say it's never too late to donate and a $1 donation equals three meals.
The Vermont Foodbank helps provide food to one in seven of the state's residents.
Last year the Foodbank distributed 8.2 million pounds of food to as many as 86,000 Vermonters.
