Slippery roads sent a Vermont State
Police cruiser rolling off Interstate 89 Thursday morning.
Police say Trooper Ben Katz was headed
south just north of Exit 12 in Williston at about 8:40 a.m. when his cruiser
went off the road, rolled, and landed on its wheels in the median.
Katz, 33, was able to contact dispatch
for help. Police say he was taken to the hospital to be evaluated as a
precaution. He was wearing his seat belt.
Katz was on regular patrol when he
crashed. Police say there was significant icing on the highway at the time. And
they say witnesses said Katz was traveling below the posted speed limit. The

The cruiser was towed away.
Katz is a 10-year veteran of the state
