BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Hector Harold scored a team-high 18 points in 17 minutes off the bench to lead the Vermont Catamounts to an 88-48 victory over Lyndon State College in non-conference men's basketball action at Patrick Gymnasium on Monday night. Vermont improves to 5-8 overall, while Lyndon State falls to 2-6.
Harold went 8-for-12 from the field and added two assists, two rebounds and four steals. Dre Wills chipped in a career-high 13 points on 4-for-5 shooting. Sandro Carissimo added 12 points and Ethan O'Day posted a double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
David Johnson paced the Hornets with a game-high 20 points, including a 5-for-7 effort from 3-point range.
The Catamounts raced out to a 14-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game and never looked back. UVM stretched its lead to 32-7 at the 7:08 mark of the first half with a 13-0 spurt, fueled by seven points from Sandro Carissimo.
The Hornets used a 7-2 run to cut the lead to 20, but the Catamounts headed into halftime with a 45-21 lead.
The Catamounts out scored the Hornets 43-27 in the second half to post their fifth victory of the season.
Vermont limited the Hornets to 26.3 percent shooting from the floor, while the Catamounts shot 57.1 percent from the field. UVM also went 26-for-31 (83.9%) from the foul line for the game.
