Boss: Vt. woman in beer-sale case gets diversion

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

It was a scheme to cash in on Heady Topper with a black market sale in Georgia, Vt., but now charges in the case could be dropped.

Vt. Liquor Control officers charged criminal defense attorney Stephanie Hoffman after they say she met them in Georgia and sold them five cases of the Vermont microbrew for $825. The deal was arranged on Craigslist.

Now, Hoffman's colleagues at Langrock, Sperry & Wool say Hoffman's case has gone to diversion, meaning if she completes certain tasks and lives by certain conditions, her record will be cleared.
