Police find dog that went missing after I-91 crash

ROCKINGHAM, Vt. -

A happy ending to the story of a dog that went missing after a crash on Interstate 91.

Vermont State Police say an elderly New Jersey couple survived the rollover crash, but then their dog went missing.

It happened Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 91 in Rockingham near milemarker 36/40 southbound. Police say the driver, David Andrews, 83, fell asleep at the wheel. His car went off the road, skidded into a patch of trees and flipped. He and his passenger, Nancy Andrews, 81, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police say their dog, Zorro, was in the car and went missing after the crash.

But there is good news: just after midnight a trooper found Zorro. The officer said the dog was walking on the snowy shoulder close to the crash scene. Zorro was cold, but otherwise OK.

Friends of the owners are now taking care of the dog.
