FAIR HAVEN, Vt. -

Was it a burglary or a drunken mistake? Police say a Burlington man left an apology note after breaking into a home.

It happened Wednesday in Fair Haven. Investigators say 20-year-old Nicholas Book was intoxicated when he entered a home on Second Street by breaking a window and fell asleep on the couch. He woke up and took off, only to come back looking for his lost cellphone. That's when police say he left a note apologizing for the initial break-in.

Book was arrested and held for lack of $10,000 bail.
