BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The office of Vermont's federal prosecutor says a Shelburne man is going to prison for 26 months for possessing a firearm while being a heroin user.
Prosecutors say 27-year-old Justin Bosley was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Rutland. He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Court records say Bosley was connected to a large-scale ring that distributed heroin in Vermont that had been brought to the state from New York.
Police say Bosley provided two semi-automatic handguns in separate 2011 incidents.
At the time, Bosley was abusing heroin, which made his possession of a gun illegal.
The handguns have not been recovered.
Bosley's lawyer Douglas Kallen said he felt the case was handled in a fair and reasonable manner.
