Free pound of coffee for blood donors

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Blood donations tend to drop off during the winter months, so the Red Cross is offering a little incentive.

January is National Blood Donor Month and the Red Cross is teaming up with Dunkin Donuts for the annual Give a Pint, Get a Pound promotion.

All donors who give blood in January will get a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin Donuts coffee.

"Burlingtonians, Vermonters, they show up for things, they give, they get involved. This center in general is a great reflection of that. It is one of the, if not the, busiest in all of New England. And this drive is one of the things that really galvanizes the centers support over the course of the year," said Mayor Miro Weinberger, D-Burlington.

Over the past six years, 520,000 donors have redeemed coupons for coffee.
