Police say a drunken man spent the night in the wrong house in Fair Haven, and later realized that it wasn't his home and left a note apologizing to the residents.
The residents of the rented apartment where the 20-year-old Burlington resident says he slept on the couch say they returned home on January 1st to find the plexiglass in their front door had been pushed out.
Nicholas Book later told police he didn't remember breaking in.
Book pleaded innocent this week in Rutland Criminal Court to a felony count of unlawful trespassing and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful mischief. He was released with court ordered conditions that he not possess or consume alcohol.
Fair Haven police tell us they respond to similar incidents about 4 times per year.
