HANOVER, N.H. (AP) - A former chief justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court will spend the next year visiting Dartmouth College to help students explore the powers and limits of the state judiciary.

Former Chief Justice John Broderick will serve as Dartmouth's second Perkins Bass Distinguished Visitor. Named for Dartmouth graduate and longtime U.S. Rep. Perkins Bass, the program invites a New Hampshire citizen who has made outstanding contributions in government to share experiences with the Dartmouth community.

Broderick, who left the court in 2011 to become dean of the University of New Hampshire School of Law, will give a public lecture, visit classes and meet with faculty and students throughout the year.

Last year's visitor was former Gov. John Lynch, who will continue teaching at Dartmouth's business school this year.
