ALBANY, N.Y. -

A North Country assemblywoman is applauding tax relief proposals Gov. Andrew Cuomo pushed in his State of the State address.

Republican Janet Duprey is in favor of Cuomo's plan to eliminate corporate taxes for manufacturing companies all across upstate New York.  It's part of $2 billion proposal that also includes property tax rebates.

"Eliminating the manufacturing tax-- huge again, particularly the hub that we have in Plattsburgh with some of our manufacturing-- Bombardier, Nova Bus and other manufacturers. So, you know, some good things for the North Country," said Assemblywoman Janet Duprey, R-Peru.

North Country Chamber of Commerce President Garry Douglas is also a fan of eliminating corporate taxes. He says it would be a powerful tool attracting new investment and jobs --particularly from Canada.
