RICHMOND, Vt. -

A scary sight on Interstate 89 north in Richmond Thursday.

Around 12:45 p.m. a vehicle caught fire and quickly became engulfed in flames. The fire lasted at least 20 minutes, burning the vehicle down to its frame. Firefighters help put out the blaze.

Vermont State Police say there were no injuries.

"She had been to a mechanic earlier in the week. She was heading up to Burlington and she saw the check engine light come on, pulled to the side and immediately noticed flames coming from the engine area, and she got out safely," Vt. State Police Sgt. Garry Scott said.

Crews treated the area with sand because water from fighting the fire froze, creating icy spots.
