BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The office of Vermont's United States attorney says it collected more than $13 million in criminal and civil fines and payments in the last fiscal year.
Of the total, almost $1.5 was collected in criminal actions and $6.6 million was collected in civil actions.
The office also collected about $4.9 million in civil forfeitures.
Prosecutors say the largest part of that amount was $4.3 million recovered in May as part of the settlement of tax and health care fraud violations by officers of a nonprofit school.
