Icy roads are causing major problems Saturday morning on some of the state's highways.
VTrans says there were dozens of cars off the road on Interstate 91, especially around the first four exits. Interstate 89 was shut down at exit 7 in Berlin, and between exits 10 and 11 southbound was down to a standstill as cars had trouble even moving on the roads.
Route 2 in that area was also at a standstill and parts of Route 100 had trouble in that area as well.
And in New York, the state's transportation department says that I-87 from the Essex County line to Plattsburgh is closed because of the ice. The North Country is also reporting severe snow and ice conditions.
They're asking drivers who don't absolutely have to be on the roads to stay at home until the ice melts off.
