Spicing up the weekend in Montpelier

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. -

We have an idea for you to spice up your life this weekend.

The Spice on Snow Festival kicked off in Montpelier Thursday afternoon and goes through Sunday. In addition to local performers, the festival also is bringing the music and cuisine of Louisiana up to Vermont.

The Summit School of Traditional Music and Culture is putting together the event, which is their largest yet.

The organizer told us she fell in love with Cajun music and food and had to share it with Vermonters.

"What I think is really special about this festival is that it's in the middle of winter," says Katie Trautz. "And it really brings people together and out of their homes in the cold and when it's really dark and it gives us that community building that we really like here in Montpelier."

Some events are free -- others you'll need tickets for. For more information, visit the Summit School's website: www.summit-school.org
