At Issue: Road Treatments

Posted: Updated:

At Issue this weekend, we continue our look at road treatments.

We're focusing on what's used to clear those roads and which roads are the priorities for VTrans. One question people often write in to us or call us about is why Vtrans chooses brine, salt, or sand.

Cat Viglienzoni talked with transportation officials to find out.

And VTrans says the average time for a plow truck to complete its route is about two hours. That means if you see that truck go by you on the road or on the highway, just be aware you won't see it for a couple hours. So during a heavy snowstorm, a decent amount of snow could pile up in that amount of time.
