Saint Mike's Comes up Short in Doubleheader

The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team suffered its first home loss of the season versus the University of New Haven, 78-68, on Tuesday evening at the Ross Sports Center.  The Purple Knights fell to 11-3 overall and 6-3 in the league, while the Chargers are 11-4 and 6-3.

Purple Knight junior Mike Holton Jr.  hit four three-pointers en route to scoring 20 points. Junior James Cambronne shot 8-of-10 for 17 points while snagging six rebounds and blocking two shots.  Senior Jeffery Adkins  had a game-high 24 points for New Haven, and classmate Justin Exum posted 16 points. The Purple Knights play five of their next seven games away from home, taking on Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The Saint Michael's College women's basketball team lost to the University of New Haven, 71-53, at the Ross Sports Center during Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday. The Purple Knights drop to 3-10 overall and 2-7 in the league, while New Haven moves to 11-4 and 6-3.

Junior Maggie Sabine paced the Purple and Gold with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Classmate Kelly Frappier poured in 10 points with five offensive rebounds and four assists off the bench, first-year Indira Evora notched seven points and a season-high five steals, and Milton's Kaitlin Geary sank seven points. Junior Aquillin Hayes scored a game-high 27 points to lead New Haven.

 The Purple Knights hit the road for five of their next seven games, beginning on Saturday at Southern Connecticut State University at 1:30 p.m.
