Rochester residents want to keep high school

Posted: Updated:

Voters in the town of Rochester say they want to keep their small high school.

In a non-binding referendum Tuesday, residents voted 220-113 to keep the school open.

Like many Vermont schools, Rochester High is struggling with declining enrollment and currently has just 75 students. A recent report advised that the school must attract new students to remain financially viable.
