A mysterious odor led to the evacuation of a lab building at UVM Monday.
The Burlington Fire Department was called to the Jeffords Lab following reports of a strange smell.
Firefighters determined that the unusual odor was the result of cow manure that had made its way into a sterilization oven at the site. People were allowed back into the building after about 45 minutes.
One individual was taken from the scene in an ambulance with flu-like symptoms but fire officials say it was not related to the incident in the lab.
