SOUTH HERO, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a driver who was found dead in a crash in South Hero died of heart disease.
Police say Daniel Harris, 63, of South Hero, rear-ended a car before his pickup traveled more than 250 feet down an embankment Tuesday night.
Police said Harris was headed north on Route 2 when his vehicle for unknown reasons rear-ended the car as it was turning left. Harris' car left the road and went through a grassy area into a patch of low-hanging trees.
The driver of the car, Dawn Bugbee, 57, of Colchester, was not hurt.
Police said Thursday that the office of the chief medical examiner has determined that Harris died of heart disease and not a direct result of the crash.
