Burlesque meets bowling

SHELBURNE, Vt. -

Bowling is just one of the activities at the first "Vermont Burlesque Festival." It's a chance for the burlesque community to celebrate and raise awareness to Vermonters about burlesque.

It's weekend full of activities, including a film festival, a performance showcase, and a bowling competition. The festival is happening Jall weekend in Burlington, and it's also a fundraiser for local charities.

Vermont Burlesque Festival organizer Cory Royer said Saturday, "Supporting the Vermont Cancer Center, RU12 community center, and we're doing a clothing drive to help warm up Vermont. We're collecting coats, it's been fantastic."

Mike Bensel of the RU12 Community Center said, "Bowling is just a way we can come out together today and have fun. Part of being in a community is having fun together."

The festival continued this evening with a burlesque show at Higher Ground in South Burlington.
