Posted: Updated:
ESSEX, Vt. -

An Essex man who called police for help is now facing charges for allegedly firing a shotgun in a neighborhood.

Police say, 50-year-old Daniel Place called them and told them he'd been punched multiple times in the face by another man at 51 Pinecrest Drive.

They say his call came after they had responded to this area for reports that shots were fired.

Police tell us they had the house surrounded and told Place to come out.

Police found a loaded shotgun in the home with discharged shells outside and, they say, it looked like there had been a fight.

Place is facing a charge for reckless endangerment.

Police say the other man involved in the incident was found around midnight.
