Bellows Falls school tries text messaging program

Posted: Updated:

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont middle school is using a new text messaging program that it hopes will cut down on bullying.

The program at the Bellows Falls Middle School allows students to electronically report harassment. Text messages from students and parents would go to school staff.

Christopher Kibbe, the superintendent of the Windham Northeast Supervisory Union, tells the Eagle Times that the school is testing the product. If it's successful, he says the program may be used throughout the district.

He says the idea is to make it as easy as possible for parents and students to report bullying behavior so that the school can address it as quickly as possible.
