Snowmobile lesson goes terribly wrong

Posted: Updated:

One person is dead and another hospitalized following a crash involving a snowmobile and tractor-trailer in Benson.

Police say it happened around 3:30 p.m. on Route 22a near Trinity Farm. They report that two people were on the snowmobile when it crashed into a tractor trailer on Route 22 A.

State Police say 48-year-old Mark Lussier of Benson, was teaching a 10-year-old how to drive at the time of the accident. Lussier died at the scene.

The 10 year-old, Brian Norton, also of Benson, was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock. We do not know his current condition.

Route 22 A was closed for a time while investigators worked to figure out what lead up to the crash.
