Money up for grabs for Burlington startup company

Posted: Updated:

A Burlington business group wants to help young entrepreneurs thrive.

So for the second year in a row, the business pitch competition Launch VT is offering cash and free services to a Vermont company. The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Burlington Young Professionals sponsor the competition. Last year's winner was Michael Adams who started Gredio, a software company that helps food businesses track inventory. He says the cash prize is nice, but the professional services have helped create a good foundation for his business.

"It was great to have these in kind services from local businesses who welcomed me with open arms, because they're used to dealing with much larger companies, and I'm teeny tiny," Adams said.

This year's prize is $25,000 plus $50,000 in services. Applications are due Feb. 15.
