Burlington Public Works crews have been busy over the last 24 hours, dealing with two major water main breaks.
The latest one occurred Wednesday morning underneath Main Street. It forced the closure of the eastbound lane between Union and Willard streets during the morning commute. It took several hours to repair.
Crews had already spent most of the night working on another break on Pine Street. That break occurred Tuesday afternoon, cutting off the water supply between Howard and Locust streets.
Crews were still at work on that break Wednesday afternoon, and water was still shut off for some customers. But Burlington Public Works said everything was fixed and back to normal Wednesday evening.
Public works officials said they appreciate the patience of people in that neighborhood.
