Tucker to resign as Caledonia Central superintendent

DANVILLE, Vt. -

The Caledonia Central School district is looking for a new superintendent. Martha Tucker says she will resign when her contract ends in June.

Tucker has had the job for nearly six years. She made news last summer when police said she and the Danville School principal failed to alert the state after a student complained a teacher molested her. Tucker's criminal case is still pending.

Both Tucker and the Caledonia County state's attorney say her resignation has nothing to do with the criminal case. Tucker says she had been planning to leave at the end of the year and her announcement now allows for a stable transition to a new superintendent. She is not sure whether she will retire or take another job.
